Kashmiris have never accepted Indian occupation: Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq
AJK PM pays tribute to Kashmiri resilience, urges international support
Muzaffarabad: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq has said that on October 27, 1947, India violated the principles of the partition of the subcontinent by deploying its forces in Kashmir against the will of its people and occupied a part of the region.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in his special message on the occasion of Kashmir Black Day, the AJK PM said that India’s claim over Jammu and Kashmir, based on the so-called Instrument of Accession, was rejected by the United Nations. He added that the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have never accepted India’s illegal and oppressive occupation and have continued their struggle for freedom to this day. He said that for the past 77 years, India has been committing grave human rights violations in IIOJK.
Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq reaffirmed that the struggle of the people of IIOJK is for their right to self-determination, a right that has been recognized by the United Nations resolutions. He said India, despite having approached the UN in 1948, now denies this right and falsely claims Kashmir as its “integral part.”
He strongly condemned India’s August 5, 2019 actions, when it revoked the special constitutional status of IIOJK, calling it a violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions. He added that India is attempting to change the demographic composition of the region by settling non-Kashmiris there and giving them preference in government jobs.
The AJK prime minister said that all Hurriyat leaders remain imprisoned, human rights activists and independent journalists are behind bars, and there is a complete ban on freedom of expression, assembly, and press in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Paying rich tribute to the courage and resilience of the Kashmiri people, he said that Indian oppression has failed to suppress their spirit of freedom.
Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq urged the international community and the UN to ensure the implementation of Security Council resolutions on Kashmir. He expressed hope that the day is not far when IIOJK will be freed from India’s illegal occupation and the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir will become part of Pakistan. KMS-15S
