Indian authorities seize property of former bar president Mian Qayoom in Srinagar

Srinagar: In a continued effort to silence Kashmiri voices, the New Delhi-imposed administration in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, has seized a two-storey residential property belonging to prominent jailed Kashmiri lawyer Mian Abdul Qayoom in Srinagar.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mian Abdul Qayoom, a former President of the High Court Bar Association, is currently imprisoned in Jammu Jail under a politically motivated and fabricated case.

Acting on direct orders from LG Manoj Sinha, police raided Mian Qayoom’s residence in the Bulbul Bagh area of Barzulla, Srinagar, and confiscated his property, which includes a plot measuring 2 kanals and 1 marla. The action was carried out under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The occupation authorities claim the seizure is linked to a case registered in 2009 at the Shaheed Gunj police station.

During the raid, police alleged that incriminating material, including banned literature, was recovered from the property. However, these claims are widely seen as part of a broader pattern of harassment and repression against Kashmiris.
