BJP leader asks party to abandon ‘demolition-and-blast’ policy in Kashmir

Srinagar: In a rare public dissent, BJP IIOJK chapter leader Arshad Ahmad Butt has called on his own party to abandon its “demolition and blast” policy. He made the demand after Indian forces razed the home of Dr. Umar Nabi in Pulwama.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Arshad Butt said that demolishing a family home should not be the default solution, and argued that wrongdoers must be prosecuted through legal channels instead of collective punishment.
Butt, a former BJP candidate from Rajpora, further insisted that relatives of an attacker should not be automatically branded criminals.
He also defended the medical fraternity, arguing that the actions of one individual should not taint the entire profession.
Political analysts say Butt’s criticism exposes a growing split within the BJP over brutal tactics in Kashmir.
