Blow to India as Armenia suspends Tejas deal following Dubai Air Show crash

New Delhi: Armenia, India’s close ally, has suspended its planned purchase of India’s Tejas fighter jets following the crash of a Tejas aircraft at the Dubai Air Show on November 21, which killed the pilot.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Armenia and India were negotiating a deal for 12 Tejas jets worth $1.2 billion. Had the agreement been finalized, it would have marked the first major export sale of the Tejas fighter jet.

Reports indicate that Israel Aerospace Industries could also face financial losses if the deal is canceled, as advanced equipment, including radars produced in Israel, was part of the Tejas package.

The crash has raised safety concerns and prompted Armenia to halt the purchase.
