APHC calls on world to stand with oppressed people of IIOJK and Palestine

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has said that as the world observes International Human Solidarity Day, the suffering of humanity in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine requires immediate attention from the international community.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement in Srinagar, said that celebrating International Human Solidarity Day is meaningless unless the world stands shoulder to shoulder with the oppressed people of Kashmir and Palestine, who have endured decades of relentless aggression by India and Israel. He stressed that the international community and justice-loving nations should express full solidarity with the oppressed people of Kashmir and Palestine, whose political rights have been suppressed by force.

Minhas emphasized that the international community must hold India and Israel accountable for the ongoing grave crimes against humanity in Kashmir and Palestine and compel them to respect international human rights laws and standards. He further noted that Kashmiris have been awaiting a UN-supervised plebiscite for 78 years to determine their political future. He reminded that the UN Security Council has already recognized Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, making it the responsibility of the global community to ensure this right is realized.

He also highlighted that the Indian judiciary is not independent, operating entirely under the influence of the BJP government. He said the Indian Supreme Court has consistently endorsed the illegal actions of the Modi government in IIOJK, including validating the August 2019 illegal revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, which he described as evidence of judicial bias.

The APHC urged the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to take notice of India’s obstinacy and unrealistic approach toward resolving the Kashmir dispute, and to ensure that Kashmiris are granted their inalienable right to self-determination in accordance with UN resolutions.
