Showcasing honesty amid occupation: Kashmiri cab driver returns lost valuables to Indian tourist
Srinagar: In yet another remarkable display of honesty and integrity that the Kashmiri people are known for, a cab driver in the Pahalgam area of Islamabad district in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir set an exemplary standard by returning a bag containing cash, an iPhone, and other valuables to a visiting Indian woman tourist.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the tourist had inadvertently left the bag inside the cab after completing the journey in Pahalgam. The bag contained a substantial amount of cash, an iPhone, and important personal belongings. Upon noticing the unattended bag, the cab driver made efforts to trace the owner instead of keeping the valuables.
After confirming the identity of the tourist, the driver returned the bag intact, drawing appreciation from the visitor and local residents alike. The tourist expressed gratitude for the honesty shown, stating that such an act of integrity is rare in India and highlighting the strong moral values upheld by the inhabitants of Kashmir despite their hardships.
Incidents like these continue to reinforce the longstanding reputation of Kashmiri people’s honesty and ethical conduct even in the face of the ongoing brutalities due to Indian illegal occupation. Despite facing years of oppression and uncertainty, the people of occupied Kashmir continue to uphold their deep-rooted values of trust and integrity, offering a stark contrast to the brutality they face daily.
Such acts of kindness and honesty are not isolated incidents. In fact, similar examples of selflessness and sincerity are frequently witnessed across the occupied territory, especially in interactions involving tourists.
