Hurriyat urges global action against India’s crackdown on IIOJK mosques

Islamabad: Ghulam Mohammad Safi, Convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has strongly condemned the move by Indian authorities to collect sensitive information from mosques, their management committees, Imams, and other religious institution officials in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement issued in Islamabad, Safi termed the move a “direct interference in Islamic religious affairs, coercive surveillance, and an attack on religious freedom.” He said the Modi regime is seeking detailed information, including bank accounts, property records, passport and travel details, phone numbers, social media accounts, and even IMEI numbers, from mosque committees through a multi-page form.
Safi stated that this is part of India’s systematic plan to bring religious institutions under state control, creating fear and mistrust in occupied Kashmir. He demanded that the authorities immediately halt the campaign, respect religious institutions’ autonomy, and uphold constitutional and international guarantees of religious freedom and privacy.
The Hurriyat leader appealed to the international community, human rights organizations, and religious freedom advocates to take notice of this serious issue and take effective measures against this trend of suppressing religious freedom in occupied Kashmir.
