Shifa Tameer-e-Millat varsity event highlights legal, international dimensions of Kashmir dispute

Islamabad: A Kashmir Conference was organized by Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University in Islamabad in solidarity with the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, focusing on the longstanding Kashmir dispute and the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

The conference brought together a distinguished panel of speakers, including Syed Yusuf Naseem, senior APHC-AJK leader, Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmed, Head of the Department of Sharia Law at Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University, Barrister Umar Ejaz Gilani, Advocate at the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Professor Dr. Atique Zafar Khan, Head of the Department of Management Sciences at the university, and Mr. Abdul Qadir, Chairman of the Youth Association of Pakistan.

The conference covered a wide range of issues, with a particular emphasis on the legal and international dimensions of the Kashmir dispute. The speakers discussed the historical context of the conflict, referencing key United Nations Security Council resolutions, and the international community’s commitments to the people of Kashmir. They also underscored the pivotal role Pakistan plays as both a party to the dispute and as an advocate for the Kashmiri cause on the global stage.

The conference concluded with a unanimous decision to hold similar events in the future. The university pledged to continue organizing conferences and educational initiatives to raise awareness among students and the public about the Kashmir dispute, ensuring that the cause of the Kashmiri people is never forgotten.
