PHE employees protest over unfulfilled assurances in Jammu
Jammu: The Public Health Engineering (PHE) Employees United Front staged a protest against the authorities for failing to fulfill commitments made to the employees in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the PHE Employees United Front, Jammu region, staged a protest at the Old Chief Engineer Office on BC Road in Jammu city, saying that the authorities have failed to fulfill commitments made to the employees.
Raising slogans and holding placards, the protesters criticized a non-serious approach of the authorities during the ongoing budget session. They said several long-pending demands of PHE employees continue to remain unresolved despite repeated assurances.
The United Front leaders said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had last year promised the formation of a committee to examine the issues concerning daily wagers and other categories of workers. However, they alleged that no concrete steps have been taken so far.
The protesters demanded immediate regularization of services and job security for employees working in the department for years. They urged the government to honour its commitments and initiate time-bound measures to address their grievances.
The demonstrators warned that if their demands are not addressed promptly, they would be compelled to intensify their agitation in the coming days.
