Congress stages ‘Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq’ march, top leaders detained in Jammu

Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian forces detained scores of Congress activists, including party General Secretary Syed Naseer Hussain and Pradesh Congress Chief Tariq Hameed Karra, as they attempted to march to Lok Bhawan in Jammu.

According to Kashmri Media Service, the Congress party had organized the march, part of its ‘Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq’ movement, to press for the restoration of special status to occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the protection of MGNREGA.

As the protesters, gathered at Maharaja Hari Singh park, began marching towards Lok Bhawan, police intervened and detained several leaders, including G A Mir, Raman Bhalla, and Pargat Singh, near Jewel Chowk.

Congress chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma condemned the police action, stating that the party had planned a peaceful march to highlight public welfare issues, but were detained and lodged in district police lines.
