APHC urges UN to intervene as India intensifies killings in IIOJK

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has urged the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, to take cognizance of the grave situation prevailing in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, where people are being killed, maimed, tortured, arrested, and humiliated with impunity by Indian forces during cordon and search operations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar terming the prevailing situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir as extremely critical, said killings, arbitrary detentions, harassment by Indian forces, and the snatching of local rights by the puppet regime have become routine.

Expressing serious concern over the upsurge in so-called cordon and search operations by Indian forces and police personnel in IIOJK, he said the people of the occupied territory have been left at the mercy of over one million Indian troops, paramilitary, and police personnel enjoying unbridled powers under draconian laws to kill, arrest, torture, and humiliate anyone with impunity.

“The rule of law is a distant dream and human rights have lost their meaning in IIOJK”, he added.

The APHC, while paying tributes to three youth martyred by Indian troops during a fake encounter operation in Chatroo, Kishtwar, demanded that world human rights organizations play their much-needed role in stopping the vicious cycle of violence being perpetuated by Indian forces in the territory.
