Authorities place Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest in IIOJK

Srinagar: Authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have placed All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) senior leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest today.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the authorities put Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest, citing the prevailing situation following the attack on Iran.

He was scheduled to deliver a sermon today at Aastane Aliya Dastgeer Sahib on the occasion of the anniversary of Ummul Momineen Hazrat Khadija (RA) but was not allowed.

Anjuman Auqaf of Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, has expressed deep regret over this decision, stating that preventing a purely religious sermon on such a significant occasion is unwarranted and disappointing.

The Auqaf said that the gathering was spiritual in nature and intended to commemorate the life and legacy of Hazrat Khadija (RA), a revered figure in Islam.
