Andhra Pradesh CM urged to address harassment of Kashmiri students

New Delhi: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has raised though a letter the issue of harassment and discrimination faced by Kashmiri students in Andhra Pradesh with state Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the JKSA sought urgent action against the harassment and discrimination faced by Kashmiri students particularly at the Government College of Nursing, Kurnool.
Around two dozen students, mostly young women pursuing BSc Nursing have reported verbal abuse, denial of Ramazan arrangements, hijab restrictions, and violation of their fundamental rights.
The students said they are being targeted based on their Kashmiri identity and religion, with the college administration questioning their decision to observe Ramzan and religious practices. They were denied arrangements for Sehri and Iftar, and prevented from bringing food onto campus. The JKSA has termed these actions as discriminatory and urged the Chief Minister to order an impartial inquiry, ensure protection from harassment, and facilitate Ramzan arrangements.
