19 Indians arrested in UAE over posting misleading content online

Dubai: In the United Arab Emirates, authorities have arrested 19 Indians among 35 individuals for sharing misleading and fabricated content on social media during heightened regional tensions triggered by the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
According to Kashmir Media Service, UAE Attorney General Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi ordered the arrests following strict monitoring of digital platforms to curb the spread of misinformation that could incite panic and destabilize public order. Officials said the accused were involved in circulating unverified video clips, including footage of missile activity, AI-generated fabricated visuals, and content portraying military actions in a misleading manner.
Authorities stated that the suspects were divided into three groups, including those sharing real-time footage of missile interceptions, individuals posting fabricated content generated through artificial intelligence, and others accused of promoting narratives favoring a “hostile state.” Officials warned that such actions pose a threat to national security and stability, adding that the accused could face imprisonment and heavy fines under UAE law.
The arrests come amid ongoing tensions in West Asia, where regional instability has led governments to tighten regulations on digital content and public communication. UAE authorities reiterated earlier warnings urging residents to refrain from sharing unverified information or filming sensitive incidents, stressing that violations would be dealt with strictly.
