BJP is involved in electoral malpractice, says Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde

Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has leveled serious allegations against the BJP, accusing its leaders of orchestrating irregularities in the Satara Zilla Parishad polls. Shinde termed the police restraint on voters “murder of democracy” in the state Assembly.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the controversy surrounds the March 20 election for the Satara Zilla Parishad president, where the BJP’s Priya Shinde won despite the Shiv Sena-NCP combine having the majority votes. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered a formal probe into the allegations.

The incident has exposed fault lines between the Shiv Sena and BJP alliance partners in the Mahayuti government. Shinde’s remarks are seen as an extraordinary attack on his own government, highlighting tensions within the coalition.
