Sonam Wangchuk calls for trust, meaningful dialogue with India

Jammu: Ladakh-based climate activist and innovator Sonam Wangchuk has called for building mutual trust and engaging in meaningful dialogue with the Indian government following his release from detention.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Wangchuk, who was recently released after being detained under the National Security Act (NSA), said that although he has been freed, his personal belongings, including his phone, remain in official custody.
In a statement, he described the past several months as an “unjust ordeal” but stressed that anger and bitterness would not help the cause he has been advocating. He said the situation should be viewed as an opportunity to build trust and move towards constructive engagement.
Wangchuk said his struggle was aimed at ensuring safeguards for Ladakh, including its inclusion under the Sixth Schedule and restoration of democratic rights. He expressed hope that the upcoming talks would lead to a positive outcome.
He also urged continued public support while emphasizing the need not to derail the process of dialogue at this stage.
