IIOJK erupts in joy over Pakistan-brokered Iran-US ceasefire

Srinagar: People across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) poured onto the streets following the announcement of the Pakistan-brokered Iran-US ceasefire, marking the development with widespread celebrations.
According to Kashmir Media Service, jubilant scenes were witnessed across the Kashmir Valley and parts of Ladakh region, where many described the ceasefire as a victory for Iran.
In Srinagar, Badgam, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Bandipora, Pulwama districts, and other areas, hundreds of residents gathered in public spaces and roads, waving Iranian flags, bursting firecrackers and distributing sweets. People chanted slogans including “Jeet Hamari Insha Allah” and “Allahu Akbar,” while some carried portraits of Iranian leaders, including the martyred supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The celebrations reflected long-standing cultural and religious ties between Kashmir and Iran, often described locally as “Iran-e-Sagheer” (Little Iran). In several places, traditional Kashmiri kehwa was served as people commmorated what they termed a significant geopolitical moment in which Iran had compelled global powers to negotiate.
Residents expressed a sense of triumph and relief. “The ceasefire is a victory for Iran. It brought the US and Israel to their knees. Today, we are celebrating this victory,” said a resident in Badgam. Another resident from Bandipora, Javed Hussain, described it as “the triumph of good over evil after weeks of fighting.” Others likened the moment to Eid, linking it to broader hopes for positive developments in Palestine and the wider Middle East.
Similar sentiments were echoed in Kargil district of Ladakh region, where prominent political leader and social activist Sajjad Kargili termed the ceasefire a “major win” for Iran and its allies, adding that key objectives of the United States and Israel had not been achieved.
The ceasefire, brokered with Pakistan’s help, has been welcomed by world leaders, including Iranian leadership and US President Donald Trump praising Pakistan’s efforts. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has played a key role in facilitating talks, leveraging the country’s relationships with both Iran and the US.
