Expensive jet fuel: Air India to cut 100 flights

New Delhi: Expensive jet fuel has broken the back of the Indian aviation sector, which is having a direct impact on flight operations.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Air India has decided to cut about 100 flights daily in view of the increasing cost pressure. This reduction will be applicable to both domestic and international flights. Especially on routes like Europe, North America, Australia and Singapore, there will be a major reduction in air services.

At present, Air India operates about 1100 flights daily, but in the schedule for next June, there will be a major cut, especially on international routes. The closure of Pakistani borders and continuous fluctuations in jet fuel prices have had a profound impact on the profitability of airlines.

It may be recalled that the Federation of Indian Airlines (FIAL), which includes IndiGo, Air India and SpiceJet, has already warned the government that services may have to be suspended if cost-cutting measures are not taken.
