India waging proxy war against Pakistan through Afghanistan: Khawaja Asif

Islamabad: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said India is waging a proxy war against Pakistan through Afghanistan, intensifying rhetoric over regional security concerns.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Khawaja Asif speaking during an interview with a private TV channel claimed that Afghanistan was effectively acting as a proxy for India, maintaining that New Delhi was using Afghan territory to destabilise Pakistan. He further asserted that both Pakistani and Afghan Taliban factions were receiving support from India.

He said Pakistan seeks stability and peace in the region, stating that Islamabad aims to maintain relations with neighbouring countries based on mutual respect and cooperation. He reiterated that Pakistan’s policy is rooted in peaceful coexistence, describing the country’s approach as that of a responsible neighbour committed to regional harmony.

Khawaja Asif also underlined the importance of prioritising national interests over personal considerations, urging stakeholders to set aside individual gains in favour of broader state objectives. His remarks come amid heightened tensions and ongoing security challenges along Pakistan’s western border.

Referring to past conflicts, the minister said the Pakistan Army had previously countered Indian actions effectively, saying that such responses had deterred further aggression. He added that India would not risk launching another attack against Pakistan, citing the military’s preparedness and past outcomes.
