Baglihar Dam could be targeted if India blocks Pakistan’s water: Rana Sanaullah

Islamabad: Adviser to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Senator Rana Sanaullah, has expressed serious concern over India’s water aggression, saying that any attempt by New Delhi to block Pakistan’s water supply would be considered an act of war.

According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking in a television programme, Rana Sanaullah said that in case of any attempt to block Pakistan’s water, the Baglihar Dam could be targeted. He added that India should be exposed before the international community over water aggression.

Rana Sanaullah said that water reservoirs should be constructed at three to four locations in the country so water released by India could be stored, and in case of blockage, it could be utilized effectively. He said that a strategy for water storage has already been discussed with WAPDA and relevant authorities.

He further said that he had also met the President, and a proposal has been put forward to construct water storage facilities at the Chenab river point. He added that the issue of water should also be raised at international forums.
