JI Hind flags serious irregularities in Bengal polls, demands accountability

New Delhi: Amid a deepening political storm over recently concluded assembly elections, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) raised serious concerns over the conduct of the electoral process, with particular focus on developments in West Bengal.
According to Kashmir Media Service, JIH Vice President Malik Moatasim Khan expressed “grave concern” over reported irregularities in West Bengal, pointing to allegations of manipulated voter lists, disenfranchisement of marginalised communities, and misuse of administrative machinery during the polls.
“The integrity of elections must be beyond question. Any perception of bias or manipulation erodes public faith in democracy,” Khan said at a press conference in New Delhi, calling for greater transparency from the Election Commission of India. He said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s refusal to step down appears justified after she alleged over 100 seats were “stolen.”
Khan also flagged the surge in post-poll violence, urging authorities to restore law and order. JIH further warned that rising inflation is compounding public distress, citing sharp increases in LPG, fuel, and electricity prices that disproportionately impact lower- and middle-income households.
