Police warn of AI deepfake scams, blackmail and identity theft in IIOJK
Jammu : In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, police have warned that personal photos, videos and information posted online can be misused by cyber criminals using AI deepfake and morphing technology to create fake identities, doctored videos and convincing scams.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the police said ordinary users, especially women and young people, are increasingly targeted for cyber harassment, sextortion, identity theft and reputational attacks.
Police advised against sharing location tags, family photos and copies of Aadhaar or other sensitive documents without using masked versions. Victims have been urged to report suspicious messages, fake profiles and impersonation attempts.
