Indian troops launch cordon and search operation in Rajouri

Jammu: Indian forces’ personnel have launched a cordon and search operation in Rajouri district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the operation, codenamed Op Sheruwali, was launched jointly by the Indian army, Centre Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and police in the, Gambhir Muglan area of the district.

Indian officials claimed the operation was initiated after specific inputs regarding the presence of ‘militants’ in the area. “A firefight ensued after contact was established with ‘militants’ in the general area of Gambhir Muglan in Rajouri during an intelligence-based joint operation,” officials said.

The operation was underway when last reports came in. Further details are awaited.
