Muted Eid bustle in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk ahead of festival

Srinagar : In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar’s commercial hub, Lal Chowk, saw relatively thin crowds ahead of Eid-ul-Adha day.

According to Kashmir Media Service, contrary to the usual festive bustle witnessed before Eid, Lal Chowk and adjoining markets saw relatively low footfall on Tuesday. Although markets remained open and business activities continued as usual, the expected rush of shoppers was largely absent.

Several traders expressed concern over the subdued activity, stating that Eid shopping generally peaks in the final days before the festival. However, roads and market lanes in and around Lal Chowk remained far less congested compared to previous years, reflecting a muted festive atmosphere.
