IIOJK records 887 crimes against children in 2024: Report

Srinagar : In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), 887 incidents of crimes against children were reported in 2024, compared to 910 in 2023 and 920 in 2022, reflecting a marginal decline over the three-year period.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a report by India’s National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) said that kidnapping and abduction remained the most frequently reported offences against children in the occupied territory, with 243 cases registered in 2024.

The report further revealed that during court proceedings in 2024, convictions were secured in 12 cases, while four cases ended in discharge and 112 resulted in acquittals. Additionally, 16 cases were disposed of without trial.
