Indian TV ordered content edits after it claimed Taj Mahal was a Hindu temple

New Delhi: India’s broadcast regulator NBDSA has directed news channel Aaj Tak to modify portions of a programme that pushed the controversial claim that the Taj Mahal was originally a Hindu temple.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the order was issued against the “Black & White” episode aired on 29 November 2024, hosted by journalist Sudhir Chaudhary.
The NBDSA observed that the programme lacked balance and failed to uphold impartial journalism. It noted that while the show selectively used Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) reports, the TV programme presented no balanced records on the Taj Mahal, resulting in a one-sided narrative.
The regulator has asked the channel to edit the concerned content to ensure fairness and accuracy, especially on sensitive historical and religious matters.
