India destroying peace through covert operations, proxy elements: PM Shehbaz

Karachi : Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif has said that India is continuously increasing the use of covert tactics and proxy elements to undermine peace and stability in Pakistan.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Shehbaz Sharif addressing the passing-out parade at the Pakistan Naval Academy, said Pakistan is currently grappling with complex security challenges of internal and external nature.

He said after the shameful defeat in the conflict in May last year, India is resorting to covert operations and proxy elements to sabotage Pakistan’s peace and stability. He said that Pakistan’s brave armed forces are fighting against foreign-sponsored terrorism from the western borders with determination, the entire Pakistani nation stands by its forces and is determined to thwart the nefarious designs of the enemy.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan is committed to the policy of peace, dialogue and diplomacy for the resolution of all disputes. He said Pakistan is steadfast in its commitment to support the right to self-determination and justice of the Kashmiris, the people of Gaza and the Palestinians.

He said the world is going through an era of extraordinary global changes, which are having profound effects on human life. He said Pakistan is maintaining its identity as a peace-loving country in the international community. As a result of Pakistan’s sincere mediation efforts with the support of brotherly and friendly countries, the historic signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran was achieved, which he also had the honor of signing as a mediator, he added.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, saying that he made tireless efforts to bring all parties on the path of peace and harmony.

Referring to the recent visit of Iranian President Masoud Peshmerga to Pakistan, he said this visit is a manifestation of the strong brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran as well as a contribution to peace in the region.

The Prime Minister said the changing regional situation has further highlighted the importance of maritime security for the global economy and international supply chains.

He said free maritime traffic and freedom of navigation have now become not just a convenience but a necessity for the whole world. He assured that the government of Pakistan is committed to making the Navy a stronger, more effective and modern defense force so that it can not only ensure national defense but also play an effective role in stability in the wider maritime region.

Congratulating the passing out cadets, the Prime Minister said they are assuming their responsibilities as officers in the Pakistan Navy after completing rigorous training. He also expressed happiness over the presence of young officers from Turkey, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Iraq, Sri Lanka and Djibouti at the ceremony.
