3,823 Hindu yatris leave Jammu for Baltal in 20th batch of Amarnath Yatra
Jammu: The annual Amarnath Yatra continued on Tuesday with 3,823 Hindu yatris departing from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu for the Baltal base camp in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir amid tight restrictions.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the 20th batch left at 2:47 am in a convoy of 140 vehicles, including 82 buses, 20 medium motor vehicles and 38 light motor vehicles.
Officials said the batch comprised 2,882 male pilgrims, 838 female pilgrims, 2 children, 84 sadhus and 17 sadhvis. No pilgrims were scheduled to travel via the Pahalgam axis.
The convoy moved along the Srinagar-Jammu highway under tight restrictions in the name of multi-tier security cover by Indian Police, CRPF and other agencies. Traffic has been suspended on the routes.
