Islamabad: As Pakistan celebrates Defence and Martyrs’ Day today, the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) stand with the country to honor the sacrifices rendered by Pakistani soldiers and citizens in defending their motherland against India’s aggression in 1965.

According to a report by Kashmir Media Service, September 6 reminds Pakistanis & Kashmiris of their shared bonds, sacrifices & common destiny. The day also reminds the world that the Kashmir dispute remains the unfinished agenda of the Pakistan Movement.

It said that when India challenged the existence of Pakistan in 1965, the Pakistani armed forces and the entire nation stood like a leaden wall against Indian aggression and thwarted its nefarious designs. “India never accepted the creation of Pakistan and, from the day one, has been hatching conspiracies against its security,” the report said.

“India had illegally occupied the Muslim-majority state of Jammu and Kashmir in 1947 and has since denied the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination while killing them for demanding this right”. Pakistan has consistently advocated the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, the report maintained.

The Kashmir dispute is the basic cause of tension between Pakistan and India, the report said, adding that relations between the two countries cannot become normal without settling this dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions.

“A strong and prosperous Pakistan is the guarantor of the success of the Kashmir freedom movement, while the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs remain a source of strength for the Kashmir freedom struggle,” it stressed.

The report said Jammu and Kashmir is a natural part of Pakistan, with one part under illegal occupation, where the Kashmiri people have been struggling to free it from Indian clutches since 1947. It said Kashmiris and Pakistanis share strong religious, historical, cultural and geographical bonds, and no power on earth can stop Kashmir’s genuine demand to become a part of Pakistan.

“The Kashmir movement is, in fact, a continuation of the Pakistan Movement. Kashmiris’ struggle is also aimed at safeguarding Pakistan’s security and defence, and Pakistan will only be complete when the entire Jammu and Kashmir becomes part of it,” the report said.

Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, had rightly called Kashmir the jugular vein of Pakistan.

The report concluded by saying that the people of IIOJK thanked the people and government of Pakistan for their continued support for the Kashmiris’ struggle for right to self-determination. It also urged Pakistanis to remain vigilant against the hostile forces hatching conspiracies to destabilize Pakistan.
