Sharad Pawar says BJP promoting ‘Hindutva fascism’ in India

Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party founder, Sharad Pawar, has said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is using a five-point agenda to promote “Hindutva fascism” in India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing party workers in Shirdi city Sharad Pawar stated that importance is being given to cow, ‘gaumutra’ (cow urine) and ideology of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader late M S Golwalkar.

“The basis of this is Hindutva fascism and they are attempting to bring it into the country. They have undertaken a five-point programme,” he said, attacking the BJP.

Pawar said privatization in all areas, increasing hatred towards the Muslim community and religious polarisation were components of this five-point programme. He said taking control of independent bodies like judiciary, the Election Commission, central agencies, the Reserve Bank, media, emphasis on “manuwad”, ultra nationalism, aggression towards Pakistan and creating a different situation in the country were other features of the programme.

He also accused the Modi government of insulting women and highlighted incidents like the disrobing and parading of women in Manipur.

Pawar said the BJP’s unfulfilled promises and the situation in states where the party is not in power indicate an unfavorable condition for it.
