17 Muslims held for celebrating Pakistan’s victory, acquitted after 7 years in India
New Delhi: An Indian court has acquitted 17 Muslim cricket fans who were arrested for celebrating the victory of the Pakistani cricket team in a match against India in 2017 after 7 years as proved innocent.
According to Kashmir Media Service, India was defeated by Pakistan in the final of the International Cricket Council Champions Trophy in 2017 in London. Twenty people, including these 17 Muslim youth and two 16-year-old boys, were arrested on June 18, 2017, on charges of sedition and involvement in criminal activities.
Rejecting the false statements of the government witnesses and the police, the court ordered the immediate release of the Muslim cricket fans.
It should be noted that two Muslim boys, Mubarak Tadwi and Zubair Tadwi, were released in 2022, while a 40-year-old Muslim Rabab Nawab was charged with treason and fed up with terrorism allegations he committed suicide in 2019 in prison, while Mubarak Tadwi’s father has died in mourning for his son.
