Mamata vows opposition to Uniform Civil Code, CAA, and NRC at Eid gathering
Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee voiced her opposition to the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), and National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the state.
According to Kashmir Media Service, during an Eid prayer gathering in Kolkata, she assured the Muslim community that her party, the Trinamool Congress, would not allow these measures to be enforced.
Banerjee emphasized the importance of harmony among all religions and stated, “We are ready to shed blood for the country but will not tolerate torture for the country. UCC is not acceptable.” She also criticized the BJP-led central government, accusing it of targeting opposition parties and seeking support from Muslim leaders during elections.
Furthermore, Banerjee expressed her support for the Opposition INDIA bloc and condemned the BJP’s use of central probe agencies against opposition parties. Her nephew and Trinamool’s second-in-command, Abhishek Banerjee, echoed her sentiments, calling for unity among Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians. K
