Over dozen arrested in large scale ongoing search operations in IIOJK

Srinagar: Indian troops have arrested over a dozen people during massive cordon and search operations in several areas of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the Kashmir Media Service, the troops conducted operations, leading to the arrest of several individuals in Shahsitar, Gursai, Sanai, Sheendara Surankote, and Mendhar areas of Poonch, as well as in various areas of Rajouri, Kathua, and Samba districts.

Indian Army also conducted aerial surveillance using a helicopter in the territory. In another cordon and search operation, Indian forces arrested two youths in the Imamsahib area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Meanwhile, as preparations intensify for the Indian Lok Sabha elections in Srinagar, Indian forces are bolstering restrictions at polling stations. Authorities have categorized polling stations in Kashmir into two groups: critical and non-critical.

“For critical polling stations, which are deemed to be at higher risk, a comprehensive security plan has already been devised,” stated a senior police officer. “Each critical polling station will be guarded by 12 to 15 armed personnel from Indian paramilitary and police forces.”

Polling for the constituency is scheduled for May 13, 2024 (Monday) from 7 am to 6 pm.
