Omar Abdullah calls for Pakistan-India talks to resolve the Kashmir issue

Srinagar: National Conference vice President Omar Abdullah has called for Pakistan-India talks to resolve the Kashmir issue.

According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a public gathering in Kupwara, Abdullah emphasized the need for a conducive environment for dialogue and urged both governments to take responsibility for fostering it. He acknowledged increased pro-freedom activity in areas like Srinagar, Rajouri, and Poonch, which, he added, were previously less active during his tenure as chief minister.

Abdullah reiterated the National Conference’s stance on resolving issues, including the abrogation of Article 370, through dialogue. He quoted former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, saying, “We can change our friends, but we can’t change our neighbors.” Abdullah stressed the importance of creating a conducive environment for dialogue, emphasizing it as a joint responsibility of both countries.

He highlighted the need for both governments in India and Pakistan to pave the way for dialogue, reiterating the National Conference’s commitment to resolving issues through peaceful means.
