Modi’s anti-Muslim rhetoric sparks widespread outrage
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inflammatory speeches targeting the Muslim community have drawn widespread criticism and complaints across several states in India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, despite violating the model code of conduct and electoral laws, Modi continues to spew communal venom, prompting activists and civil society groups to demand action from the Election Commission.
In Jharkhand, a delegation of activists filed a complaint against Modi’s “inflammatory and communal” speeches, which misled voters by claiming that the Congress party would rob Adivasis and other communities of their property and give it to Muslims. Similar complaints have been filed in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, citing violations of the Representation of the People Act and the Indian Penal Code.
The Election Commission’s lack of response to these complaints has raised concerns about the fairness and integrity of the electoral process. With the prime minister’s continued polarizing rhetoric, fears of communal violence and hate crimes are escalating.
As the election season heats up, it remains to be seen whether the Election Commission will take decisive action to ensure a free and fair election, untainted by religious prejudice and hate speech.
