Bandipora health facility lacks electricity, proper medical services

Srinagar: The New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) in Quilmuqam village, Bandipora district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, has been without electricity since 2019, rendering vital medical machinery inoperable.

According to Kashmir Media Service, locals complained that despite repeated pleas, the authorities have failed to address the issue.

The health centre, which serves several surrounding villages, has X-ray and ECG machines, but they remain unused due to the lack of electricity. Villagers are forced to seek medical attention for minor ailments at the district hospital, causing inconvenience and hardship.

This situation is not unique to Quilmuqam, as almost all health centres in rural areas of occupied Jammu and Kashmir face similar challenges, highlighting a broader issue with the healthcare infrastructure in the territory.

The village Lambardar, Abdul Wahid Shah, expressed frustration over the department’s insensitivity to the villagers’ needs. Despite estimates being prepared and paperwork being sent to higher authorities, no action has been taken to provide the necessary transformer.

The villagers have held protests and appealed to the authorities, but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears. The lack of electricity at the health centre undermines its purpose, and the villagers are urging the concerned departments to address the issue and provide the necessary power supply.
