Kashmir delegation briefs German journalist on human rights situation in IIOJK
Geneva: A Kashmir delegation met with German journalist Susan Wih-Sararr at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and briefed her on the dire human rights situation in Indiaan illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the delegation highlighted India’s strategy to quell the legitimate freedom struggle of the Kashmiri people, including extra-judicial killings and demographic changes in violation of UN resolutions and international laws. These changes, they warned, would turn the Muslim-majority state into a minority state and frustrate the people’s right to self-determination.
The delegation also drew attention to the deteriorating health of detainees incarcerated in mainland India on false charges, who have been denied basic facilities and are being subjected to harsh conditions, including extreme heat without access to cooling systems.
The German journalist expressed serious concern over the plight of Kashmiri prisoners and assured the delegation that she would give more space to Kashmir in her future write-ups and speeches.
The delegation which was comprised of Advocate Parvez Shah and Dr. Waleed Rasool, thanked her for showing concern on human rights situation in IIOJK.
