IFJHR denounces Indian govt for eroding the Martyrs Day in IIOJK

Srinagar: International Forum for Justice and Human Rights Jammu and Kashmir (IFJHR) has denounced the Indian government for eroding the Martyrs Day in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and said that the day has its own significance in Kashmir’s history.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the IFJHRJK Chairman, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, in a report said the martyrs of 1931 revamped the struggle of Kashmiris against the oppression and the events following their martyrdom laid a foundation for the Kashmiris.

He said Kashmiris have been observing the day since long and taking inspiration from their struggle. He said ending the holiday on this day is aimed at eroding the history of Kashmir.

Ahsan Untoo said the day is a Black Day as unarmed Kashmiris were killed by the Maharaja minority Hindu rulers. He said that observing Hari Singh’s birthday was adding insult to the people of Jammu Kashmir whose loved ones were murdered by the same Dogra ruler.

He also condemned the authorities for not allowing the people to visit the graveyard, including the families of the martyrs, who wanted to offer fateha at the graveyard.

Ahsan Untoo said the IFJHRJK has filed a petition in the High Court of the territory questioning the intent behind doing away with the martyrs day holiday in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the IFJHRJK will continue its fight against these oppressive measures till there is an end to these violations.
