Indian troops arrest youth during ongoing search operations in IIOJK
Jammu: Indian forces arrested at least one youth in Poonch district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the youth named Abdul Khalil was arrested by Indian forces personnel during a cordon and search operation in Surankote area of the district, Indian officials said.
Indian forces personnel claimed that Khalil is an upper ground activist of ongoing freedom struggle.
The officials claimed that a mobile phone with multiple SIM cards were recovered from the possession of the arrested youth.
The Indian forces including Indian army, Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF continued their massive search operations in different areas including Pangai, Sanai, Jangal, Pattan,Surankote, Bangar-Saroor, Drabshalla ,Dessa , Lam and Nowshera in Poonch, Rajouri, Kishtwar and Doda districts, officials said.
The operations continued under the pretext of receiving information about suspicious movements.
Residents were also ordered to report any suspicious activities in their localities.
Cordon and search operations have been a frequent occurrence in IIOJK, with Indian forces often citing suspicious movements or intelligence inputs as the reason. These operations have led to widespread human rights violations, including arbitrary arrests, detentions, and even civilian casualties.
Occupied Kashmir has been under Indian military occupation since 1947, with tensions escalating in recent years. The Indian government’s decision to revoke Article 370 in 2019, which granted special status to occupied Jammu and Kashmir, has further exacerbated the situation, leading to increased militarization and restrictions on civilian life.
