‘Distance from Delhi is increasing’ – Protests Erupt Across IIOJK

Srinagar: Protests broke out in different areas of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, with demonstrators demanding the restoration of statehood, resolution of water crises, and protection of workers’ rights.

According to Kashmir Media Service, protesters in Srinagar lashed out at the Modi regime for using delay tactics and sought immediate restoration of statehood, stressing that the distance from Delhi is increasing and people are disheartened.

A large number of political leaders and activists participated in the protest demonstration, carrying placards, raising slogans, and demanding the restoration of statehood before the Assembly elections. The protesters said that instead of restoring statehood, the Modi regime is taking steps aimed at disempowering the Kashmiri people.

In Shopian, residents staged a protest over the lack of potable water, threatening to spread protests if the authorities fail to provide a solution. The residents of over half a dozen villages, including Muqam Kellar Dunrau, Shalidar, Shodimarg, and Nasarpora Gujjar Basti in the district, are facing severe water scarcity.

The residents from the affected villages gathered in Muaqam Duanaru and staged a protest demonstration against the authorities.

In Ramban, around 200 tunnel construction workers, who were disengaged by an outsider construction company, are on strike for the seventh day, demanding their rights and opposing the engagement of workers from outside the occupied territory. They said that the construction company Unique UHPC Macro Line LLC sidelined the local skilled and unskilled workers and engaged workers from parts of India instead.

The protests reflect growing discontent among the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, who are seeking resolution to their long-standing issues and demanding accountability from the authorities.
