Modi’s policies force IIOJK scholars to sell dry fruits on streets

Bangladesh-like unrest brews, threatens to erupt into full-blown movement

Srinagar: The policies of the Modi-led Indian regime has pushed students and scholars in occupied Jammu and Kashmir to the brink, forcing them to sell dry fruits on the streets.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the occupation regime’s inability to support these vulnerable individuals has led to a shift of scholars to other professions, underscoring the difficulties in supporting them. Despite vacancies in colleges, the regime is reluctant to hire local scholars to fill these positions.

After 30 years of studying, many students find themselves trapped in a cycle where they cannot switch fields or pursue new opportunities. They are often left struggling to start businesses, and may even end up selling dry fruits on the street. For example, two PhD scholars are forced to sell dry fruits on a cart in Shopian town alone.

PhD scholars, once the epitome of academic excellence, are now being forced to sell dry fruits on the streets due to the policies of the Modi-led occupation regime. This alarming trend, exacerbated by the Modi government’s apathy towards the educated youth of Kashmir, exposes the dark underbelly of a system that has failed to provide opportunities, forcing scholars to abandon their dreams and resort to menial jobs.

Over the past five years, MPhil and PhD degree holders have been forced to shift to fields they never imagined, leading to a shift in perspective, with students considering technical courses instead of pursuing higher studies.

The students of Bangladesh, driven by the injustices they suffered, rose up and brought their government to its knees. A similar storm is brewing in Kashmir, where the simmering discontent among scholars and students, forced to abandon their dreams and sell dry fruits on the streets, threatens to erupt into a full-blown movement. If the regime continues to ignore this growing unrest, it will soon find itself facing a seismic upheaval that will only gather strength and momentum, leaving it overwhelmed and grappling for control.
