Many journalists blocked from covering Omar Abdullah’s oath ceremony in Srinagar

Srinagar: The BJP regime-backed authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir denied passes to many journalists for covering the oath-taking ceremony of the territory’s new administration, led by Omar Abdullah.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the ceremony took place today at the Kashmir International Convention Centre in Srinagar, where IIOJK Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, appointed by the Modi government, administered the oath to Abdullah and his council of ministers.

Accredited journalists expressed disappointment over the pass distribution process, describing it as lacking transparency. “Only a select few journalists and media organizations received passes,” one accredited journalist stated, highlighting concerns about the unclear selection criteria.

Another journalist criticized the “pick and choose” approach to granting media access for such an important event, emphasizing the need for a fair and transparent process to ensure comprehensive coverage.
