US raises concerns over Canadian allegations against Amit Shah

Washington: The United States has raised concerns over the alleged involvement of India’s Home Minister Amit Shah in a targeted campaign against Sikh Khalistan leaders in Canada.

According to Kashmir Media Service, this response follows confirmation by Canada’s Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister David Morrison, who disclosed in a national security committee meeting that Amit Shah had reportedly orchestrated a campaign involving violence, intimidation, and intelligence-gathering to target Sikh leaders within Canada. Morrison stated that he had verified Shah’s name to The Washington Post, which initially broke the allegations.

U.S. State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller confirmed that Washington is actively monitoring the situation and maintaining close communication with Ottawa on the matter.

“The allegations made by the government of Canada are concerning, and we will continue to consult with the Canadian government about those allegations,” Miller said during a news briefing.

These allegations, as reported by The Washington Post, have intensified diplomatic tensions, already strained by disputes over Khalistan movements and other political issues between the Indian and Canadian governments.

Canadian National Security and Intelligence Adviser Nathalie Drouin and Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Morrison informed Canada’s national security committee, further corroborating Shah’s alleged role in anti-Khalistan operations in Canada.
