Rehmani slams staged killings in IIOJK, warns of new Indian provocations

Islamabad: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, former Convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter, has strongly condemned the killing of three Kashmiri youth in a staged encounter in the upper forest ranges of Srinagar, describing it as part of a brutal military campaign against nomadic Gujjar and Bakarwal communities.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a statement issued in Islamabad, Rehmani said the encounter appeared pre-planned and follows a pattern of India fabricating militant links to justify extrajudicial killings. He linked the timing of the operation to recent remarks by US President Donald Trump, who offered mediation on the Kashmir dispute after a brief India-Pakistan war, suggesting Indian authorities might be scripting new provocations ahead of August 5.
Rehmani noted that Kashmiris will observe August 5 as a Black Day, marking India’s unilateral and illegal abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status in 2019. He reiterated that the move was a flagrant violation of the Partition Plan of 1947, the UN Charter, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
He emphasised that no section of the population in Jammu and Kashmir accepts India’s Hindutva-driven designs to erase the State from the global map. Rehmani reaffirmed that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will continue their peaceful struggle and will accept nothing less than their UN-mandated right to self-determination through a free and fair plebiscite.
