Urs of Hazrat Makhdoom Sahib (RA) observed with great devotion in Srinagar
Srinagar: The annual Urs of Hazrat Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom (RA), popularly known as Makhdoom Sahib and revered as Sultan-ul-Arifeen, was observed with deep religious fervour at his shrine on Hari Parbat in Srinagar.
According to Kashmir Media Serviced, thousands of devotees, including men, women, and children, thronged the shrine to pay obeisance, offer special prayers, and participate in nightlong Shab Khawani marked by collective recitations and supplications.
For twelve days leading up to the Urs, streams of people from across the valley visited the hilltop shrine, underscoring the profound reverence attached to the saint.
On the occasion, Islamic scholars highlighted the life and teachings of Hazrat Makhdoom Sahib (RA), recalling his role as a spiritual guide who preached humility, self-purification, and service to humanity. They noted his lasting influence on Kashmir’s spiritual and social fabric, which continues to inspire generations even after nearly five centuries.
