IIOJK authorities impose restrictions in Baramulla to block 28th Safar observance

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, authorities have imposed curbs in parts of Baramulla district ahead of the observance of 28th Safar, tomorrow.
According to Kashmir Media Service, on the 28th of Safar every year, Shia Muslims observe the passing anniversaries of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his grandson, Imam Hassan (RA). However, the occupation authorities have moved to curb related religious gatherings.
District Magistrate Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, ordered restrictions in Gund Khwaja Qasim, Kanterbugh and adjoining areas of Singhpora. The order, effective from 8:30 PM on August 22 to 9:30 PM on August 23, 2025, prohibits the assembly of four or more persons, processions, and the use of loudspeakers without prior permission.
Officials admitted the move was aimed at blocking majalis scheduled for 28th Safar. Citing police and civil administration inputs, they claimed the restrictions were needed to prevent “possible disturbances,” recalling past clashes between rival groups that resulted in FIRs at Pattan and Magam police stations.
