4 killed, several structures damaged due to rains in Doda

Jammu: At least four people lost their lives and several properties were damaged during the past 24 hours in Doda district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir due to heavy rains.
According to Kashmir Media Service, , two people were killed after their house collapsed, while two others died in flash floods triggered by continuous rainfall in the territory. Officials confirmed that residential houses and other structures suffered considerable damage.
The district administration has issued alerts for residents, especially those living in low-lying and hilly areas, urging them to remain cautious as intermittent rainfall continues to lash the district.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has warned of rising water levels in the Jhelum River due to continuous downpour across the territory.
Director of the Meteorological Centre, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, while speaking to media, said that the next 24 hours are crucial for the entire occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He added that the water level is expected to rise in the lower and middle parts of the Jhelum till this evening before gradually receding.
Dr Ahmad further said that due to incessant rains since last week, water levels have increased in rivers and streams, particularly in the Jammu region, and people residing in low-lying areas must remain vigilant.
