Four Bihar men shot dead in ‘encounter’ by Delhi police

New Delhi: Four men from Bihar state of India were shot dead in a so-called encounter by a team of Delhi Police in the Rohini area of New Delhi.

According to Kashmir Media Service, police claimed that the four men — identified as Ranjan Pathak, Vimlesh Mahto, Manish Pathak, and Aman Thakur — were wanted in multiple cases of murder and extortion in Bihar. The police said the accused had been hiding in Delhi for several days before being tracked down.

A senior police officer stated that the encounter occurred when the suspects allegedly opened fire on the police team, prompting retaliatory fire. All four sustained injuries and were shifted to a hospital in Rohini, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, human rights observers have expressed concern over the growing number of encounter killings under the BJP-led government, noting that many such cases in recent years have been carried out under questionable circumstances without transparent judicial review.
