Collective punishment to IIOJK people has become state strategy of Modi govt
Punishment for Delhi car blast being meted out to all innocent Kashmiris: The Wire

New Delhi: Collective punishment to innocent Kashmiris in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has become the state strategy of the Modi-led Hindutva government.
According to Kashmir Media Service, articles by Pirzada Mehboob-ul-Haq and Nasir Khohami in the Indian newspaper “The Wire” have exposed the atrocities of the Indian government such as collective punishment to Kashmiris.
According to The Wire, occupied Jammu and Kashmir is an important and exceptional state, however, on August 5, 2019, civil liberties and the right to expression were abolished from it.
The Wire says that politics and economic policies in occupied Jammu and Kashmir are in the hands of bureaucracy, the territory system is more authoritarian than ever, and the punishment for the Delhi car blast is being meted out collectively to all innocent Kashmiris.
After the Pulwama, Pahalgam and Delhi car bomb blasts, Kashmiris are rightly questioning the security of the Indian government. The Indian government’s strategy is authoritarian, a system of constant surveillance is in place in occupied Jammu and Kashmir that does not even listen to the legitimate complaints of Kashmiris. Occupied Jammu and Kashmir has an elected government but that is unable to take effective measures.
According to The Wire, elected member of the assembly, Meraj Malik, was detained under the draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) and the Chief Minister of the occupied territory seems helpless in his release.
After the Pahalgam attack, the Indian government’s response was cruel and oppressive, and the Indian government demolished the homes of many innocent Kashmiris.
Collective punishment has become a state strategy in occupied Kashmir. Jasir Wani’s father committed self-immolation after not being able to access his detained son. Kashmiri youth are deeply frustrated and the Indian government is resorting to brutal measures.
Communities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir are being pitted against each other and political parties are making false accusations against each other to curry favor with Delhi.
According to The Wire, a humane approach is urgently needed in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The political role of the Kashmiri people is limited and there is a severe imbalance of power, with the local people unable to raise their voice in politics.
It is important to adopt a humane approach and give Kashmiris an equal share in the political process.
Measures such as depriving Kashmiris of passports, jobs or security clearances and collective punishment must end immediately.
