Women, tourists among 23 dead in cylinder blast in Goa, India

Goa: At least 23 people, including women and tourists, were killed in a blaze at a nightclub in North Goa, India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the fire erupted following a cylinder blast at the nightclub late Saturday night.

Goa Police Chief Alok Kumar confirmed that the blaze was triggered by a cylinder explosion.

The fire broke out shortly after midnight at Birch by Romeo Lane, a popular party venue in Arpora village, about 25 km from the state capital, Panaji. The club had opened only last year.

Most of the victims were kitchen staff members, including three women, while three to four tourists were also among the dead.
